Lake Titicaca:
Lake Titicaca has an origin as ancient as it is mysterious. The pronunciation of its peculiar name is sympathetic on the other side of the ocean, to the point that jokes with the rivalry between Peru and Bolivia justify that, depending on the nationality of the person speaking, some appropriate the “titi” and leave the “poop” for the other party. However, far beyond the name, its history and the biodiversity that it contains make it an ecosystem as wonderful as it is strange due to its particular circumstances.
Located in the Andean highlands in the central Andes, Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world with an average altitude of 3,812 meters above sea level, and also the largest freshwater lake in South America. Of its extension, 8,562 km², 56% belongs to Peru and 44% to Bolivia, serving as the border between both territories. It is estimated at 3 million years old and has an average depth of 107 meters. The water temperature is 13º on average and more than 25 rivers pour their waters into Lake Titicaca.

It is the reason why the Taquileños have demonstrated their high degree of advancement in the textile industry. Receiving his award from UNESCO.
It should be noted that spinning and weaving are mainly done by men, starting at the age of eight. Women only make threads and fabrics. Life in Taquile continues to maintain its lifestyle despite modernity. The visit will take an average of 2 hours, and we will have 1 hour to try a delicious typical lunch.
